Racers For Christ
January 2012
2012: a new year and a fresh start. But by January 2nd many resolutions will already be history. Could it be the problem is not what we do, but who we are deep inside? Would you join me in a heart and soul check up? First of all, is what I do really guided by the Spirit of almighty God? Or have I allowed me to get in the way of His Spirit’s leading? Am I really where God wants me to be, doing what is His desire? Do I really do what Jesus would do if He were walking in my shoes? Do I feel the pain of the hurting souls around me or have my desires begun to crowd them out? If someone looks deep into my eyes can they still see the love of Jesus in my soul? Do I ask for God’s guidance or just His blessing on where I decide to go?
The answer to these questions can determine whether we are being the best we can be or willing to settle for something far less. The crazy pace at which we live our lives makes it really easy to lose our focus sometimes.
Would you please join me in this prayer?
Almighty God,
Thank you for your many blessings. Thank you for paying the price for my sins. Forgive me where I have sinned, be it doing wrong or not doing what I should. Open my eyes that I may see the path you have laid out for me. Use me to bless those around me. Fill me with your love so it can be seen in my eyes. All honor and praise to you!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
We want to wish each of you a most blessed 2012. And thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives.
In Christ,

The Starfish Story
By Loren Eiseley
Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.
As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.
He came closer still and called out, “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?”
The young man paused, looked up, and replied, “Throwing starfish into the ocean.”
“I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?” asked the somewhat startled wise man.
To this, the young man replied, “The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.”
Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, “But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can’t possibly make a difference!”
At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, “It made a difference for that one.”
